Also in Cebu, everything is still in lockdown. Therefore, our schoolchildren still cannot attend school. In this difficult time, the children have great difficulty with their school assignments. Every two weeks the children receive a stack of assignments from school, which they work through at home. To support them in this, Pasuk Foundation started the Homework Support Program , in which we offer the children tutoring and homework assistance. Helping the younger children in elementary school is still fairly easy for the Pasuk team. However, tutoring children in secondary school is of a different caliber. Especially the technical subjects and mathematics prove to be quite a challenge. The teenagers miss the personal contact and explanation of their subject teachers. Home tutoring To help the Pasuk teenagers properly in their studies, we decided to appoint a professional tutor. Glenda (32 years old) is a teacher and has a specialization in mathematics. She herself grew up in the slums and therefore knows very well what poverty is and what it does to children. Every working day Glenda visits one of the five neighborhoods in which Pasuk operates, to provide tutoring to the teenagers and support with their homework assignments.
