New school supplies for sponsor children

In the Philippines, the new school year is in full swing. However, schools still remain closed for education due to the quarantine measures in place. Therefore, our sponsor children are working on their school assignments at home. What this means for the children and how exactly Pasuk is helping in this, you can read further on in this article. New school supplies At the beginning of this month, all seventy Pasuk children received their new school supplies. A great moment, because this enables the students to make their school assignments. Together with the parents, we determined the contents of the school pack, to ensure that all the necessary items are included. The package includes notebooks, pens, pencils and markers, a stapler, tape and glue, flip-flops and an umbrella, to get the homework done to school dry. In the department store in Cebu City, a special place was set up for Pasuk, so everything could be arranged in an orderly fashion. You can see exactly how this was done in the video below. If you would like to make an additional contribution to our education program, you can easily do so at the bottom of this page.

Homeschooling For over a year and a half now, our sponsor children have been homeschooled. Parents or caregivers pick up lesson modules each week at school. In the modules the lessons are written out and the assignments are also listed. The students have to read and complete these themselves. Many children experience this as difficult - especially if parents, siblings cannot help them. The children greatly miss the guidance of their teachers. And they also miss the contact and sociability with other children at school. Tutoring Especially in this difficult time, we want to offer our sponsor children hope and education. Besides the necessary school supplies, Pasuk also gives the children tutoring. We organize this in small groups, or sometimes individually at the children's homes. With all patience, Glenda - our own math specialist teacher - helps the teenagers just as long, until they "master" those challenging math formulas. The children and their parents are very grateful to Pasuk for this wonderful support. Lessons from the Bible Before corona, we received all sponsor children weekly at the Pasuk project in Cebu Bible Church. But because the children cannot come to church because of quarantine rules, the Pasuk mentors visit them at home. Each week the children are given a Bible task, with the goal of making them more and more familiar with God's Word. For example, the children learn various Bible stories and can work on puzzles around the weekly theme. Each week the children also memorize a Bible verse and send a video of it to their mentor. Furthermore, we encourage the children to pray, bring their needs to the Lord Jesus and thank God for His faithful grace and protection. Your contribution is welcome We are grateful that we as Pasuk can help these vulnerable children go to school. Together with you, we may invest in their future. Because of the extra tutoring, the expenses in our education program have increased significantly this year. Would you like to make an additional contribution in this? As an indication, the salary of our part-time tutoring teacher is 50 euros per week. The cost of one school package is 27 euros. You can easily donate below. Thank you very much in advance!
