Two big green buses stop in front of Cebu Bible Church to transport eager children to the annual Pasuk outing. This outing is not only a celebration for the children, but also for their parents! The bus ride alone is a breath of fresh air - an escape from the stifling heat of the slum in a bus wonderfully cooled by air conditioning. Read more below the video.
At a beautiful swimming pool, the buses unloaded their busy chattering loads. As always, the Pasuk cooking team has prepared perfectly to provide everyone with food and drinks. Rice, vegetables, meat, coolers full of drinks and more are pulled from the bus. A feast is not complete without food - such is the Filipino culture. Before the swimming feast begins, prayers and section readings from God's Word are offered. Whether the Pasuk team is hosting a Saturday program or just sitting poolside, opportunities are created at every opportunity to share the precious words of the Bible with the children. After some games are played, the children jump into the wonderfully cool water. For a moment, they forget the worries of everyday life and can truly be children. If you watch the video, you may notice some white guests among the black hair and blue shirts - that's right; they are sponsors from the Netherlands. They are thoroughly enjoying themselves and having valuable conversations in the meantime. One of the goals of this outing is to connect with the child's parents or caregivers. The setting is informal and relaxed, allowing conversations to develop naturally so that we can learn more about what is going on in the families and get to know each other better. For the Pasuk staff, parents and children alike, this is a day with a golden edge, for which we are grateful to the Lord!
