Normally you see children going to school from the slums with backpacks and in school uniforms, but during the summer vacations they wander around bored. The concept of going on vacation or having a day out is unknown to these children. The money families scrape together is often not even enough for the most essential necessities of life. With these thoughts, the Pasuk team organizes a Vacation Bible Week every year during summer vacation. From Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon, the children are taken through a program with a biblical theme. Enthusiastic children report to the grounds of Cebu Bible Church even before 8:30 in the morning, dressed in the color of the day, forming a close-knit team. It amazes us how quickly the children memorize Bible verses using a handy paper to which a new section is added daily. Continue reading below the video.
This year's central theme is "God makes me strong" ("God makes me strong"). Each day a sub-title is added to further explore the main theme. Using various stations, the children follow the day's program, which includes the Bible story, creative activities, games and dance. The day ends with a meal together. This requires a lot of time and commitment from all our volunteers. Every day they are tirelessly ready to cook with enthusiasm, sing, dance, color and cut, and much more, all to give our precious Pasuk children an unforgettable week. It gives us immense joy to see happy children's faces, but the main purpose is not just temporary entertainment. It is our wish that the Bible stories and memorization texts will take deep root in the hearts of all our Pasuk children, and that they will come to a living faith in Jesus Christ. Check out the photos and video on this page to get an idea of the program.
