Pasuk offers hope to the most vulnerable children through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. At the same time, we also want to support the children in their daily needs. All students in the Pasuk program grow up in extreme poverty. Although through our daily work in the slums we have become accustomed to the small houses and primitive living conditions, we sometimes encounter situations that urgently require attention.
"For He will save the poor who cries for help, the wretched and those who have no helper."
- Psalm 72:12
This summer we were deeply impressed by the circumstances of some Pasuk children. We believe the Lord leads us in those moments to show His fatherly love and provide practical help to these vulnerable children. During the same period, the Pasuk Foundation received some specific donations to repair or build houses where it was most needed. For four Pasuk children, this meant not only an improvement in their living conditions, but a total change in their daily lives. In the videos below, the mothers share their personal stories, from the loss they experienced to the hope their new home brought. All glory to God, and thanks to the sponsors who made this project financially possible.
Aldin Gadiane (8 years)
Aldin's family lost their home twice in a short time to devastating fires. Their last abode, a cramped windowless attic room, was unbearable, especially during the hot summer months. When Aldin's mother pleaded to God in desperation for a new place, she could not have dreamed her prayer would be answered so soon. Now the family lives in a safe new home, with windows that can be opened for fresh air. Watch the video in which Aldin's mother emotionally testifies how the Lord answered her prayer and gave them a place of their own where they can sleep peacefully again.
Everly (age 13)
Everly's family faced a harsh reality when their home was demolished by the government to make way for a wider riverbed. Suddenly homeless, they had to make do with a temporary shelter of wood and tarp. With every rainstorm, Everly found herself standing in the mud. Yet Everly never lost her trust in God. "I trust in the Lord," she said. "I know God is with us. If God gave His Son to save me, how much more will He provide what we practically need." After a week of construction, a new house stood, protecting the family from the rain. Since there is no electricity where they live, we arranged for a solar panel with LED lights so Everly can do her schoolwork in the evening. Watch the video in which Everly shares her experiences.
Cathalea (5 years)
Cathalea's life changed dramatically when her family lost their home during the 2021 typhoon. Since then, they lived with her grandparents, where conditions were far from ideal: damp, cramped and flooded with every rain. This was not a healthy place for Cathalea to grow up. The new house built for her and her family now sits on a concrete elevation, protected from the sewage that rises during heavy rains. For mother Mischelle, it is an answer to prayer. The new house gives them a chance to build their lives on stable ground. Watch the video with Cathalea and her mother Mischelle below.
Ezra (age 11)
Ezra lives with her mother, blind grandmother and little brother in a house that was badly damaged by typhoon "Odette. The back part of their house had collapsed, leaving them living crammed into the small front part. When it rained, sewage ran inside, forcing them to pick up their belongings from the ground each time. The damp conditions made it difficult for Ezra's family to stay healthy. After several days of carpentry and sawing, the house was repaired. The new, sturdy staircase sits on a concrete elevation to prevent the wood from being damaged by rising sewage. Thank God Ezra and her family can once again sleep peacefully on the upper floor.
