Child safety
Children and young people are vulnerable. That’s why we prioritize the protection of children and youth within the Pasuk project. We oppose all forms of child abuse and exploitation and do everything we can to ensure that Pasuk children are protected and can grow up in safety.
Prevention
Proper child protection begins with prevention. This means that in every place where Pasuk operates, precautionary measures are taken to minimize the risk of abuse and violence. That is why we have a Child Protection Policy for anyone who represents Pasuk in any way or visits a Pasuk project. These guidelines protect both the children and the people who interact with them. They are based on biblical principles and take the Filipino cultural context into account. By endorsing and signing this policy, we collectively contribute to a safe and healthy development for all Pasuk children.
Recruitment Policy
Because we care about the safety of Pasuk children, we want to ensure that our volunteers and visitors have the right intentions and mindset. That’s why we follow a few essential steps before someone can become a volunteer or visit a Pasuk project. This helps us create a safe and reassuring environment for everyone involved. With this recruitment policy, we aim to prevent individuals with harmful intentions from becoming involved with our organization.
The following applies when new volunteers and/or visitors wish to actively participate in Pasuk Foundation’s activities:
- An introductory interview is held with a board member of Pasuk Foundation
- The volunteer reads and signs the full Child Protection Policy
- Two references are requested from non-family members
- A Certificate of Conduct (Verklaring Omtrent het Gedrag – VOG) is required, screened under category 84 (working with minors)
- The Pasuk Foundation board makes a binding decision based on the above criteria
Child Safeguarding Focal Point
To protect the safety of our sponsored children, we have trained a team of Child Safeguarding Focal Points to respond to any incidents and support the implementation of our policy. The Pasuk Child Safeguarding Team is responsible for investigating concerns and ensuring appropriate follow-up and action. They work together with other staff and external authorities, and handle all information as confidentially as possible.
