Child safety
Children and youth are vulnerable. That is why we prioritize the protection of children and youth at the Pasuk project. We fight against any form of child abuse and exploitation and we do what we can to ensure that the Pasuk children and youth are protected and can grow up in safety. Proper protection of children and youth begins with prevention. This means that in the places where Pasuk works, precautions are taken to minimize the chance of abuse and violence. Therefore, there is a code of conduct ("Child Protection Policy") for people who represent Pasuk in any way and/or visit the Pasuk project. The guidelines protect both the children and those who interact with the children. They are based on Biblical principles and take into account the context of Philippine culture. By endorsing and signing this code of conduct, we are together contributing to the safe and healthy development of the Pasuk children.
Hiring Policy
From our concern for the protection of the Pasuk children, we want to make sure we are dealing with volunteers and visitors with good intentions and the right attitude. Therefore, we make some arrangements before someone can become a volunteer or visit the Pasuk project. This way we ensure a carefree and safe feeling for all involved. With this hiring policy, we try to prevent people with wrong intentions from getting involved in our organization.
The following applies when we allow new volunteers and/or visitors to be active at Pasuk Foundation:
- There is an introductory meeting with a Pasuk Foundation board member;
- The volunteer reads and subscribes to the entire "Child Protection Policy.
- Two references are requested from non-family members;
- A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) screened for category 84 (being in charge of caring for minors) is requested
- The board of Pasuk Foundation makes a binding decision based on the above.
Confidential Contact
To protect the safety of our sponsored children, we have trained a team of confidential contact persons ("Child Safeguarding Focal Point") to follow up on any incidents and provide support in implementing our policies. The Pasuk Child Safeguarding Team is responsible for investigating complaints and ensuring appropriate follow-up and action. They cooperate with other staff members and external authorities and keep information as confidential as possible. For questions and/or concerns regarding child safety, please contact us at safeguarding@pasukfoundation.org.
